Further Info

Just an update regarding the current situation to set your minds at ease. Erin has been in touch with the exam board requesting further information of their expectations for working from home/work that should be completed and the kind of format this should take as well as how this will be assessed. As soon as this is clarified we will pass details on to you.

As it stands you should continue with the start of your mini major project as outlined in the previous post. Just bear in mind the parameters, you should be mindful to choose a theme that you have multiple ideas for exploring under lockdown conditions – don’t set yourself something unachievable! All projects start with primary recording so make sure that it is something you can access in your home environment/very close proximity.

This project will take place under lockdown and the deadline will stay the same – as to what experimentation, development and format this will take will be clarified in the coming days as soon as we have more information.

It is our intention to deliver some online lessons next week in your timetabled slots – Erin, James and Malcolm will be available to do this. This will be held on Microsoft Teams and links to online lessons will be sent out via Canvas announcements.

You will need to follow the link to access the lesson. This can be done from your computer or mobile phone.

Canvas submissions for the colour project have been extended, so if you have not already done so, please upload your work to ensure that College has a record of this and you can be passed to progress with the next portion of the course.

Keep positive and check the blog regularly for further updates,

Erin, Malcolm and James

Return to College

 Hi all

Following our meetings and curriculum planning this morning, I can confirm that it is the intention that Foundation Art will return week commencing 11th January. This will be week A, so A bubble will be the first to return and begin their digital portfolios – as outlined last term. Week B, please complete the task outlined below.

Whilst you are all working at home this week, ensure you begin your Mini Major project research:

  • Mindmap: idea generation/interpretation of theme, media, techniques and processes, primary sources you can visit/collect, inspiration,
  • Moodboard: subject matter, media, techniques and processes, artists’/designers’ work, presentation methods, colour
  • Artist research double page x 2: annotated in detail, consider, inspiration, techniques, colour, materials and media they use.
  • Include an article/interview about their work and context
  • Gather primary research: contact sheet and 12 chosen inspirational photographs to work from
  • Complete 6 studies in media of your choice, what will work best for your project? E.g. collage, texture, colour, rapid prototypes?
  • You will use these to inspire your first samples so these must be complete and available to you when you return to college!

Reminder: The deadline for your Colour project outcomes is tomorrow by midnight, please photograph and upload work to Canvas.

Please check your emails regularly, as further work and instructions will be set at the end of this week.
