Fantastic foundation trip.

Fantastic trip to the Lowry and Imperial war museum.
The sun came out for us and inspiration was everywhere.
The structures were everywhere around the Quays.
The Imperial war museum was full of structures, shadows and sculpture.
Plenty to do and see!
Photography exhibition and some great prints for inspiration.

The Lowry Contemporary art exhibition didn't disappoint, leading to much discussion about conceptual art.
And you really could take some home with you.....honest! 6000 oranges down to the last 100.
The highlight of the trip was the helium ball-I had to pry them away.
Amazing kinetic, interactive art.
Great trip, fantastic weather and awesome company.
Next trip......residential at Blackpool-can't wait!

Mark making.

Who ever said mark making was boring? That definitely isn't the case here, Foundation students have been having a ball.....literally!
Inspired by Karina Smigla-Bobinski's ADA jazz with a helium ball. A kinetic mark making sculpture, we have been experimenting with mark making ourselves.
We are all looking forward to seeing the actual helium ball on a trip to the Lowry art gallery this Thursday and taking part in a piece of art work, whilst we are there.
We have had a varied mix of results,
And a whole lot of fun!

We even experimented with a spiragraph, twigs, bleach, water guns filled with paint and expressive marks with toy cars.

All in all, we have had a great couple of days drawing the sculpture and mark making.
We will keep you updated with what ever exciting projects we produce next week.
If you fancy seeing some Karina Smigla-Bobinski artwork, her work is on display at the Lowry for a few more weeks. Definitely a must see.

Check it out.

Great work today....the installation is complete.

What a fantastic transformation of found objects. Inspired by objet trouvé and arte pouvera, amazing first project.

The large scale group shadow drawing works well too. Keep it up!

Fantastic start to the first week of the Art Foundation.

So far in the first week, foundation students have created some great mark making drawings and have begun their art installation with gusto!
First few days of a group installation inspired by Sarah Sze and Cornelia Parker.
Fantastic start
