Developing well....
Some excellent development of this years MFP pieces, looking forward to final piece deadline this Friday.
The studio should be busy this week!
Body adornment pieces inspired by body enhancements and the world of dance developing further into more complex installations for final exhibition.
Some large scale ceramic sculpture based upon structure and endangered animals. The final pieces are looking varied and interesting. The countdown begins until completion.....4 days!
Exciting times @ ASFC
The excitement mounts as the end of the course and this exciting, fast paced year is in sight.
From a busy classroom to an empty exhibition space.....first we had to get cleaning, Cinderella style!
We cleaned the skirting and scrubbed the floor.
We scrapped, scoured and moped...everyone got in there and a once mucky, well used classroom finally became a lovely bright exhibition space.
Now the fun begins, displaying all the great art work we have been creating.
Yesterday we had this empty space and a huge pile of component pieces to construct into something beautiful!
No one quite estimated the time and commitment this task would take. We have hammered, screwed and mounted to within an inch of our lives, creating a fantastic exhibition.
The professional ASFC art Foundation exhibition shows the huge range of skills and techniques taught over the large variety of subject specialisms we offer on the course.
The team work and patience shown this week really highlights the journey students have made and how far they have all come since a-levels.
The space is being filled with some fantastic work and it is really starting to come together.
A few sneaky peaks of work already mounted this week in the first of many future exhibitions.
Some photography by Emily Plant and Haydan Roberts.
Examples of sculpture and installations by Emily Moss, Amy Whyatt and Joe Casey.
I am feeling very proud of the work displayed so far and am looking forward to completing the exhibition tomorrow.
Well done to everyone who has finished.
A nice cool drink in the sun tomorrow has been well and truely earned this week, that's for sure....more photos to follow.

Countdown to deadline!
So it's that time of year again....June has arrived and an unexpected 29 degrees in Ashton-under-Lyne. It's also exactly one week until Art Foundation major final project deadline.
Really? I hear you say......yes really, from the chaos of final pieces, overflowing sinks and bins. The transformation has begun!
The countdown to the end begins......8 days left and one messy classroom to make into a professional exhibition space.
Boards cut down and the assembly has started.
The space is starting to look more like an exhibition space but then came the fun....who knew art students could make such a mess with some white paint?
Luckily we have overalls!
Everyone did a Stirling job today, even in this heat.
Well done guys.
First coat of paint finished and left to dry. We did need some fans and a lot of water but tomorrow is coat 2 and then to begin installation of final pieces.
The end is in sight and we are all getting excited to see the exhibition come together.
Private view of work is Monday 27th June 5pm-7pm
Ashton sixth form college.
But we might give you a sneaky peek at our progress later on this week.
